The One Week Winner©

Take Control of Your Self Talk

Ever wanted to really take control of how you think and feel? To make positive thinking a habit? Wondered how to recognise feelings and thoughts quickly and use them to resolve issues? Well – now you can and here’s how!

What you focus on or think about is responsible for how you feel every moment of every day and like it or not you get what you think about most. It’s possible to change your focus in a heartbeat if you decide to, to catch yourself in a thought and choose to change it to something else. How you feel is linked to what you think about and the meanings that you give to the events that happen to you each moment and your energy levels are linked to your emotions. So if you want more energy you have to think empowering thoughts.

Yeah, yeah, I hear you thinking, if it was that simple I’d be doing it! That’s true, we need first to tackle all the years of conditioning that our thought processes have had. We are so bombarded by negative messages, doom and gloom and pessimism all day long, so much so that it has become accepted, unquestioned and a part of life. We hardly notice the level of bad news in the news, on tv, on the radio, in the soaps, in plays and films, in the gossip that we take part in……. Even the most positive of you will be amazed when you take this challenge, amazed at how many negative or disempowering thoughts even you have and you never even noticed.

Well - It’s time to take control of how you think and feel in each moment by re-training your brain to look for new empowering, positive thoughts, emotions and meanings.

How? It’s fun and easy, we’re going to play a game called the One Week Winner©! It’s my challenge to you to keep going One Week Winneruntil you complete it. If you do I guarantee that you will:

a) Learn a huge amount about your habitual thought patterns
b) Recognise your patterns quickly in future and
c) Be able to change your focus instantly.

This will result in such a different you. A more focused, positive and energetic you. YOU will be in control!

So, what is the game? What is my challenge? My challenge is this: I want you to go for seven straight days without dwelling on any negative or disempowering thoughts or feelings for more than two minutes at any one time. As soon as you recognise a pattern, a thought or a feeling that saps your energy or gives you low feelings, you must do whatever it takes to focus on something else and turn it around.

You already have a lot of tools in your armory to help you get through this challenge so let me help you to remember a few to get you started.
You can “swish”, you can visualize positive outcomes, you can make a contribution to someone around you to change their day, you have memories of good times, you can smile, you can laugh, you can shout CANCEL, snap an elastic band on your wrist or interrupt your thought routine in whatever outrageous way you can think of! You can use questions to change your focus, for example, if you are dwelling on something bad that just happened, ask “What can I learn from this? What could I do differently next time? How can I help others with a similar problem? Or you can do something you enjoy like singing, listening to a favourite record, call a friend, read a poem or inspirational quote!

Do anything it takes to change those thoughts and feelings before two minutes is up.

But what if you catch yourself thinking or feeling disempowering things and the two minutes has elapsed?

Well…
Then you have to start again! Go back to day one and celebrate a fabulous new chance to do better this time around! It doesn’t matter how far you got or which day you are on-you must return to the beginning. The challenge is to make it through seven whole days consecutively.

By the time you get to be a One Week Winner©, believe me, you will absolutely have the thought habits it takes to be a winner. You will be transformed! It is a fantastic challenge to repeat periodically to keep up the good work and ensure that the habit remains and I personally try to complete it three to four times a year. It’s awesome and the results are outstanding!
