All of our courses are interactive and utilise a variety of training methods including practical demonstrations and simulated procedures, small workshops, seizure video footage, power point, question and answer sessions and discussion to ensure the needs of our learners are not just met but exceeded.
Choose from the following courses to best support the requirements of your clients and teams:-
1. Basic Epilepsy Awareness - Half Day Course
The aim of this half day session is to present an overview of epilepsy and the current treatment for the various manifestations of this condition
Training Objectives include:-
• Understand the nature and incidence of epilepsy
• Be familiar with the various forms of epilepsy and their clinical features
• Understand the diagnostic methods for investigating suspected epilepsy
• Be able to explain the range of treatments available for this condition
• Be competent to administer first aid following an epileptic seizure
• Appreciate the social and occupational aspects of epilepsy
The session will cover:-
· What is Epilepsy?
· The physiology of nerve impulses and the brain
· Incidence and prevalence of epilepsy
· Causes of the disease
· Symptoms
· Types of seizures
· Diagnosis of epilepsy
· Treatment options for epilepsy
· Medication used to treat epilepsy
· Basic first aid
· Emergency treatments
· The impact of Epilepsy
The training is carried out for you in the venue of your choice. Cost of a half day session is £347 + vat plus travel
2. Epilepsy Awareness Training WITH Buccal Midazolam and/or Rectal Diazepam Administration
This full day training session covers all of the above topics in a little more depth and your team will also receive additional training to develop an understanding of the theory & practice of administering rectal diazepam, and will have participated in the simulated procedure AND/OR practical training in the administration of Buccal Midazolam. Both additional trainings follow the Joint Epilepsy Council guidelines for training in this area and are competency assessed onthe day. Because of the practical nature of this session and the competency assessments we restrict the group sizes to a maximum of 12 per session.

3. Epilepsy Awareness Distance learning Course
For those organisations who only have a couple of people that need to have an awareness of epilepsy or for individuals who are unable to access an in-house course we have a wonderful solution for you! Simply enrol on our distance learning course, receive your modules by email and return them to us at your convience by email or post. Work at your own pace with the support of a tutor and enjoy a high standard of training from the comfort of your own home.
