Perception is projection

Funny isn't it how some days, the training session content is the same, the audience is different AND there's no planning for all sorts of unexpected interruptions!

Had a day like that today! The crowd were great...a little on the quiet side at 1st maybe - they warmed up nicely as we went along. 5 minutes in to the training the door bell rings ?????? So I apologise and go to the door to discover a delegate from another meeting whi is lost and apologetic. No problem, we carry on.

10 mins into the training the coputer switches itself off....hmmm.......how to carry on seemlessly AND make time in an impromptu way to re-boot the sytem...I know - give them a little something to dicuss between themselves for 3 minutes. Phew.

30 minutes in - Door opens and a man pops his head around the door to ask if any one would like to purchase any sandwiches for lunch? Great services, poor timing! 6 delegates wish to take advantage of this offer and disappear!

1 hour in - trainer has a tickle in the throat...coaching ensues.....time for a tea break!

2 hours in - the presentation decides to run itself and I turn around to discover the end of the slide show has appeared instead of the slide I expected.....time for another little exercise I think! Gosh am I releived when we get to lunch and SO glad that I got the group rapport early on :-)

Now - it would be so easy to view that as a bad day, could anythig ELSE go wrong??????

OR choose to find it interesting....amusing.......a challenge even in a positive way. You see, you get to choose how you feel AND how you project your emotions to those around you.  It's such a gift to realise that depending up on the meaning that you give the evnt dictates how you feel and the energy you give out. No-one can see inside you - how do they know that it isn't all perfectly in order? They just get what you show them so - show them that you are cal, confident and in control and that's exactly what they will receive......that way they willl also feel calm, have confidence in you and trust you are in the driving seat.

Good point!

Its hard to remember, when the pressure is on, that nobody can actually see that you are in a state of panic and turmoil inside. So if you can focus enough to calm the nerves and knocking knees they will never know that you are just as human as they are.
