Medicines Management for Domiciliary Carers – Introductory course
This is a half day workshop session which covers the basics of medicines management in domiciliary care:-
- Legislation and guidance for domiciliary carers
- The 3 levels of support
- Compliance aids
- Basic record keeping in domiciliary care
- Disposal of unwanted medicines
- What is the difference between a medicine and a drug
- What are the different classes of medicines
- Forms of medicines
- Strength, dosage, frequency and timing of administration
- Safe handling of medicines
- Administration of common formulations
- Generic vs branded medicines
- Medicine labels
- Recognising and reporting side effects
This course costs £30 per person
Training sessions are run by a qualified pharmacist, at your premises and cost the appropriate fee per person (minimum of 10 people per session) plus travel expenses of 28p per mile.
