Introduction to Medicines - Care Homes

A half day work shop designed to basics of medicines management in residential and nursing home care, suitable for staff at the induction stage.

This course covers the following:-

  • What is a drug?
  • What is a medicine?
  • Classes of medicines
  • Controlled drugs
  • Different forms of medicines
  • Different routes of administration
  • How do medicines work?
  • Strengths of medicines
  • Dose, timing and frequency
  • Generic and brand names
  • Medicine labels
  • Warning labels
  • Homely remedies
  • Short assessment

This course costs £30 per person

Training sessions are run by a qualified pharmacist, at your premises and cost the appropriate fee per person (minimum of 10 people per session) plus travel expenses of 28p per mile.
