Paediatric First Aid

Our Paediatric First Aid training has been designed to be informative, engaging and hands on, allowing people who complete the course to feel confident, knowledgeable and capable about performing first aid.

Our Paediatric First Aid training provides participants with all the knowledge needed to be competent, confident and reliable First Aiders for children before they reach puberty. The course is hands-on, and interactive with multiple competencies to assess each participant, making sure they are able to perform all the elements of first aid to children.

Course content

Our course content is informed by the HSE guidance and provides hands on, interactive training to comply with the Health and Safety (First aid) regulations.

  • Infant And Child Resuscitation
  • Control Bleeding And Manage Shock
  • Choking
  • Treat Burns And Scalds
  • Head Injuries, Seizures And Febrile Convulsions
  • Fractures
  • Recognise And Deal With A Range Of Common Illnesses/ Diseases including:
    • Asthma And Hyperventilation
    • Meningitis
    • Allergies And Anaphylactic Shock
    • Sepsis
    • Fainting
  • Neck And Spinal Injuries
  • Poisoning
  • Extremes Of Hot And Cold
  • Electric Shock
  • Bites And Stings
  • Eyes, Ears And Nose

During the course, the trainer will observe skills displayed throughout, there will also be competences throughout with knowledge checks, and research based tasks.

Who is this course designed for?

This course is designed for people who work with children before they reach puberty at work, at social events, or for those who just want to be confident if they might need to provide first aid in their day-to-day life.

Course duration

Paediatric First Aid is a 2-day course. Please allow for 8 hours per day including breaks and lunch.

Course outcome

At the end of the course, the participants will feel confident and competent about providing first aid to children before they reach puberty and will have the knowledge to deal with any first aid situation that arises.

Ways to study

Our Paediatric First Aid at Work is delivered as a face-to-face course only, in-house or at our offices as private or open courses.

Paediatric First Aid Training fees

Paediatric First Aid First Aid is £170 per person + VAT.

£950 + VAT and travel expenses where applicable for a maximum of 12 participants.

Length of qualification

Once completed the Paediatric First Aid will allow you to be a paediatric First Aider for 3 years, however, we strongly recommend refresher training every year to refresh and cement knowledge and to be kept in the loop of all the updates.
