After the fantastic response to our Care Leaders Breakfast in December — where local leaders came together to share ideas, strengthen safer‑care practices, and build meaningful professional connections — we’re excited to announce the next event in our growing series of leadership breakfasts for the care community across Staffordshire.
Over the past year, Momentum People has had the privilege of working closely with small group homes, local authorities, short break services and SEN schools across the region. The relationships built through this work have shown just how powerful it is when care leaders come together in a supportive, collaborative space. Many of you told us how valuable the December session was, and how much you wanted more opportunities to connect, learn, and develop your practice alongside peers who understand the unique challenges of children’s services.
So, we listened.
Introducing the Children’s Care Leaders Breakfast
Date: Wednesday 25th February
Time: 9:00–11:00 AM
Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Cost: Free
This next breakfast event is designed specifically for leaders working across children’s care — including registered managers, service leads, senior staff, safeguarding professionals, and SEND specialists.
Just like our previous session, this will be a relaxed, welcoming morning where you can enjoy breakfast while connecting with colleagues from across Staffordshire. But this time, we’re diving into a topic that many children’s services tell us they struggle with: controlled drugs in children’s settings.
Why This Session Matters
Controlled drugs are an area where uncertainty, risk, and regulatory pressure often collide. Whether you’re supporting children in residential care, specialist education, or community settings, getting this right is essential for safeguarding young people and protecting your team and organisation.
During this interactive session, we’ll explore:
- Common pitfalls and risks around controlled drugs
- Practical, real‑world solutions you can implement immediately
- How to strengthen your systems and processes
- Clearer understanding of responsibilities and compliance
- Shared learning from peers facing similar challenges
Expect open discussion, real examples, activities, and plenty of time for Q&A.
You’ll leave feeling more confident, more informed, and better equipped to lead safe, compliant medicines practice in your service.
Continuing a Growing Movement of Care Leadership
This event isn’t just a one‑off — it’s part of a developing series shaped by the needs of care leaders across Stoke‑on‑Trent and Staffordshire. The December breakfast showed us how valuable these sessions are for building a stronger, more connected care community. We’re committed to continuing that momentum and supporting leaders who are passionate about delivering safer, smarter care for children.
