Receiving Medications Training Game

Description

How It Works:

Participants work in small groups (3–6 people), each receiving one or two patient medication packs. Using a checklist they create beforehand, they must carefully examine the delivery for potential errors. This interactive session typically takes 10–15 minutes including group discussion and feedback.

Facilitators guide the session, answer questions, and help groups reflect on common pitfalls — including understanding Latin abbreviations commonly still used on labels, such as:

• OM – In the morning
• ON – At night
• OD – Once daily
• BD – Twice daily
• TDS – Three times daily
• QDS – Four times daily
• PRN – As required
• AC – Before food
• PC – After food
